We are comprised of dedicated individuals, who feel that it is crucial that all carbon reducing initiatives deliver absolute and verifiable reductions in global carbon emissions, regardless if these are voluntary or regulated entities. In this quickly developing industry, it is understandable that regulations and mechanisms for verification are still at an infancy stage. It may still be several years before the world has a clear framework towards carbon neutrality and reduction.

The combined efforts of concerned governments internationally, have been commendable. There have been rapid advancements and sustained monetary support for the green industry. However, despite all of this, the majority of the world has yet to understand how a changing environment affects their daily lives. Traveling from Jaipur, through Changzhou, to Jakarta, the word is out that there is a carbon crisis, but there is not much anyone can say about what this crisis is? If citizens of the most populous countries in the world cannot grasp the problem, how are they to adapt and contribute their solution?

Project Oikos focuses its efforts on increasing the awareness and proactive decision making in developing Asian countries, necessary to combat the growing CO2 crisis. Our part in this chain is to link the major carbon reducing investments to the people that make up our world, you and I. With all the work being done to develop the technologies, we need to work equally hard to prepare our societies for this shift to a carbon neutral environment.

The greening initiative is the core of our efforts. We organize planting events that involve communities of people to spend a portion of their personal time, greening their towns and cities. This core is developed further through other local projects that are supported by Project Oikos, which promote a more environmentally conscious lifestyle and resonate the message of carbon neutrality. Each tree purchased goes directly into social projects, local and international, that are designed to involve and expose the public. There is no better way to get the involvement of the public, than through a “get your hands dirty” approach.
